bottom paint

i am getting ready to repaint my boat bottom,i have never done this before.how much do i have to sand? is west marine brand bottom paint any good? ive heard if you do it right it will last two years,is there any truth to that?

Sinful, I recommend the ablative botom paint. It is multi-year, and since it slowly disolves, these is less build up. It is a bit more $ than regular, single season bottom paint, but less work since you can repaint only every couple of years. Store brand paint is made by one of the marine paint companies (Pettit or Interlux), and it is significantly cheaper.
