I'm currently trying to sand the bottom of my boat using 120 grit discs...it's slow going. It depends on how much of your original finish you want to keep in the end though I suppose.

We have ours done with 80 grit just enough to scuff it up so the new paint will stick to a clean surface. After 6 years of doing this annually we removed all the paint and started over. Be safe.

Hi ron..

What bottom paint ? Obviously not VC17 ( they dont sell in gallons :) ).

Normally a light scuff with 80 or 120 after the loose stuff is off.

I like to use a drywall sander with a pole as not to get too much on me.

USE a respo..and a protective suit and gloves Please :)
