Hi everyone, new here. I have been reading some of the topics and it's seems as though there is a lot of help here. I'm having some issues with the bottom yoke on an 01 125 merc. I'm wondering if i have to pull the power head to change. The circle retaining ring is laying right under it. There is some play in the motor there now. I have tried to reset the retaining ring but it will not go on. Am I just not trying hard enough. I'm wondering if the recessed part of the swivel pin that the ring seats in in broke off, because by looking I don't see where how it goes on. I don't know much about this and looking for some advice on this if anyone has dealt with this. Thanks for reading.

:welcome: aboard Gonolels to iboats. Always glad to gain a new member...

I tried to look at a exploded view of your engine, but without the model number and serial number, I can't locate your exact setup. If you can post more information about your engine and even a picture or three, we can try to answer your problem with better suggestions and ideas. It may not be as bad as you think. Post away...

Hi, thanks for the welcome and the the response. The serial # is 0T212778, 2001 125EXLPTO. I'm trying to upload pics from my phone and it's not cooperating, then again it's probably user error. If the yoke is pushed up a lot of the slop goes away. I can't get the ring to hold it in place, there's no way, i think that the swivel pin that the bottom yoke connects to at the bottom, once had a recess on the pin itself for the ring to seat on or something. I don't know much about how these parts are supposed new and I don't want to pull the power head to replace if I don't have to. Really frustrating, I bought the boat a week ago and somehow overlooked or didn't even look at that particular part. I did compression checks and ran it and engaged the gears. I never would have thought to check a mount at the bottom. I even checked to make sure the prop shaft wasn't bent and it was right there. I have never ran across this. That's probably why it was such a deal. It runs great but there is a lot of play. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Okay Gonolels, You r serial number actually allowed me to see an exploded view of your engine setup. However, I am not sure what part(s) your talking about. So I will direct you to the same exploded view for you to see the parts and then you can either figure it out yourself, or at least direct us to your problem via the part number.

Type in boats dot net and go there and select Mercury and post your serial number and look. Then post back here for any more questions. Oh don't type in the word dot. JMHO
