Is the OMC a cobra or stringer? white or silver paint or gray paint?

Heck no water in oil good compression. Is it just leaking water? if there just cracks then plug em and have fun is a option. I have seen JB weld is some wierd places.

The OMC/Merc swap is not do-able.

The 3.0 to 5.7 is not worth the cost on that old of a boat. If you want more power, buy another boat.

Why won't the shop help you out?? Other than seeking a lawyer, what else have you done about it??

In anwser to you question NO. The unit you are looking at is a stringer, they were junk when OMC built them, thats why there availabe the newer ones (400 and 800) were better but still not good---Bob

I don't know what stae you live in but here in Michigan you could get your invoices and facts together and take that shop, to small claims court, yourself without retaining a lawyer. You might not get the full amount of your loss, but you would get a judgement for some of the lose and the satisfaction of them having to face their mistake. Once you get the judgement in your favor you can badmouth them all over town without worry of a suit from them. EMBARRASS THEM IN THE COMMUNITY--Bob

Re: Bottomless Pit

The drive i bought was an omc stringer.
I have a pre alpha Merc drive now for 3.0
Shop is a guy who has been doing boat work on the side for me for past 10 years. He said he did it right and i am just trying to screw him. He dont have the money to fix my boat. However he did say he would keep his eyes out for a block for me.
I tore in to the motor the other night. found most of the cracks. fired up my torch and welded them up. I used a cast rod, drilled and preped all cracks. I figured it was allready junk could not hurt. I but the motor back together and ran on muffs. I found a few more cracks. that i will weld this week end. Thanks for your replies. As for the motor re power to the 350 gave that idea up. to much money. I just run this one till she sinks or blows. thanks again for replies.
