i just got a 30hp 1989 johnson for 100 bucks yeah!. the motor only was in the water 3 times last year. ran great! i was witness to it. it was not winterized. all the guy did was drain the gas out of it by removing the hose. also the lower unit oil was changed before he ran it last year. another factor is that it was stored outside in below freezing temps. is there any special precautions i should take before starting it up this spring? i was going to change lower unit oil and put fresh gas in it but anything else?
