Re: Bought my daughter a kitten
I am fundamentally a dog person, but after living in the country for years, with a very healthy population of field mice around, I never regretted getting a cat. None of the storebought traps or poison or any other control measure I could find could compare to that cat. She was a killing machine.
And the cat in very short order explained the situation with my golden retriever. When we first got the cat, the golden and the cat were staring each other down for a few seconds a few feet apart, and then the cat lifted one paw, extended the claws, and made a slow swiping move as if to tell the dog--leave me alone, or that will be your muzzle under those claws.
Dixie, my golden retriever, wisely left the cat alone after that.
