Bow rider deck

The bow deck in my bowrider is a step up from the main deck and is fiberglass only, no wood. The boat is is 40 years old and the raised deck is beginning to flex more as you walk on it. What is the best way to reinforce it, add wood on the bottom or another layer of resin and fiberglass on top of it?

It probably had some wood under it 40 years ago. Under would be the best, but may not be practical. Some 1/4 plywood on top and glass it on would be a fair fix. Or if you go real crazy, you could make a new deck out of teak, or epay (not spelled right). then you dont have to glass it.

Ipe wood is what he's is thinking of. But yes, it would have had had a wood core underneath it. You can do whatever you want on top and it will probably work, just a matter of finishing it to the same standard as what is there. Depending on your level of comfort and future plans, I would leave it for a later date, as in when you take the top off and refinish the whole thing
