so here is question. My bow rides very high when on plane?
I took off a jack plate last year because i didnt like how low my boat sat in the water and and somebody suggested that would help and i really didnt need a jack plate. so i did that and now my front end feels so high when on plane? It looks like my motor is still in optimal height for the boat... Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?
are ya using the trim (tilting drive up/out or down/in).
trimming down/in will bring the bow down.

Find a rather portly friend:D Sorry, couldn't help myself.

As noted above, size, make, type, power, etc. Is the boat new to you? Has it always done this? Do you know the PO, and if so, could you ask him about it?

Re: bow rides really high

have you ever heard of the different thrust patterns of props?

some have a wider pattern as opposed to a longer pattern. if your bow is rising then possibly you have a "wider" prop. a wider prop will direct some water down and force the bow up.

i dunno, just something that popped into my head. trim should have fixed it though. ever thought about trim tabs? or a whale-tail/dol-fin?

I guess you should put the jack plate back on. Simple soulution....if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If you really don't want the jack plate, you could always look into trim tabs...

it was broke... the jack plate with the set back positioned my weight futher back thus making it sit a little lower. At rest the water would actually come in my drain holes of my spill way at rest. Little bothersome when you are fishing in 3ft waves and water crashes over the back of your boat every 5 seconds. Removing the jack plate raised it almost 3 inches. It doesnt sound like a lot but its a lot to me.

Re: bow rides really high

if trimming the motor up does not help try moving some weight forward on the boat

well this is interesting to me as well because every prop that prop wizard on iboats says that i am way off on my prop that i have on there now

Like Larry the Cable Guy said when pulled over for suspected DWI
" why Officer, is there a fat girl in the back seat?" :eek:get 'er dun!
try shiffting some weight forward and make sure the motor is tucked in low.

If you don't want to move weight -- experiment with engine height -- experiement with props --- then add real trim tabs --- which are not cheap. Maybe $400 or so will get you either Lenco or Bennett for what you want, they will provide stern lift and bring the bow down -- that is essentially what they do.
