bow stop problem

I have a 85 procraft that is on what i believe a "red Valley" trailer, single axle the boat is a 16.5 PRO V.The pro v/s are long tapered and as such start to curve upward quite aways back on the hull . this leaves space between the last foot of the bunkie and the boat and when I am unloading , the boat drops down and the bow stop comes up and hits the rub rail and has loosened it abit. Even if the bunkies were longer they would not follow the taper on this hull. I am perty sure this is the original trailer cuz it has the yr and manufactures name written on the bottom of the wood, and no matter how I adjust the bunkies it doesn't seem to help!
any ideas on this?

thnx
mark

Re: bow stop problem

pro-mark,
If I read your post correctly, you're saying that the nose of the boat drops down onto the bow crank/stop bracket, when launching the boat from the trailer... Does it do the same thing going onto the trailer?

It almost sounds as if you've got the trailer too far into the water, during launching...

you might want to experiment a little with how far the trailer is in the water. Try it both ways to see if you can identify the "sweet-spot"...

Good Luck, Obiwan

Re: bow stop problem

On my procraft 1750, I'm thinking there was a center keel roller ahead of the bunks. Does yours have this? Don't know if this would help or not. I can see where dunking trailer too deep might do this. Does yours have the little side roller guideons? I would back in until just about 2" of these rollers were sticking out of water. What do you mean by "this leaves space between the last foot of the bunkie and the boat"? Are you saying the boat isn't sitting on the end of bunk? If so, this doesn't sound right at all. All bunk trailers I've ever seen the boat sits on bunk it full length.

thats right Hot with the long taper of the pro V their is no way the bunks could fit to it! there is a roller in the front but it low , i think i will extend it up and see if that helps

mark
