I've never seen or heard of bowfishing before I ran across this: http://www.extremebowfishing.com/video.htm

... I don't think I like it.

Does anyone do this or tried it? Maybe I'm missing something but to me, a fish should be caught with a rod and reel and then thrown back, unharmed, if it's not going to be consumed.

Re: Bowfishing

It's common up on Lake Ontario by Rochester. When the season open you see guys lined up shoulder to shoulder on the bridges gunning for Salmon.

Re: Bowfishing

Bow fishing is a total BLAST if you never tried it you do not know. Here in Calif. you can bow fish for carp they tear up the lakes real bad and it is not as easy as you think just hold a stick and push in the water and the angle well you will see.
