I wanted to know if boyesens reeds give you better idle and better for trolling ? DO they increase mpg also ? I have a 2000 Johnson 175

They tend to help idle quality but don't expect to save enough gas to pay for them. Nothing you do to an outboard will increase the fuel mileage enough to bother with -- except for throwing the heaviest person in the boat overboard and far too often that would be the operator.

Your must be carbed and not a ficht. Reeds will help idle and trolling but only good for 3-4 years as they warp over time. Better off installing the ficht reed blocks and reeds as they flow better and reed less stiff. Mpg there is no magic,except installing a flow meter and see where your boat runs best at least amount of flow.

Yes, they will help the idling characteristics. Also will improve midrange. I've had a set in a low-rev V6 for many years and they still run great. A high rev engine will wear them. Also, lean sneeze carb backfires can damage them. The advantages outweigh their cost.
