Boyseen Reeds and Decarb

I have boyseen reeds and need to decarb engine ('84 1.6l Sea Drive), should I be concerned?<br /><br />Reeds have only an hour or two on them.<br /><br />RKwood

Same here, I gottem too, jus DON'T use anything with alcohol in it. Continued exposure to alcohol will soften them. Power Tune by Mercury is harmless to them...

They are glass epoxy based and alcohol is the solvent used to wash or thin epoxy resin...This information is per Boyesen, they specificly state to avoid alcohol enriched fuels, ocasional use of alcohol drying agents for fuels is ok....the outboard manufactures all say to avoid constant use of alcohol enriched fuels to, they creat acids that are corrosive to the internal parts of the engine
