At exactly the same moment a 747 leaves Kennedy airport for Paris and a Concorde leaves Orly for New York. The 747 cruises at 500mph, the Concorde at 1300mph.

Winds are westerly at 25mph, the earth is rotating at 1,000mph.

Eventually, the two planes pass one another.

At the moment they meet, which one is closer to Paris?

You guys got it. A classic "too much information" quiz.

The only information that matters is that the have met and are at the same spot. . . same distance to Paris, or anywhere else for that matter.

My wife said it was a good way to start your day, esp with you old farts just sitting around on the computer all day. (I ofcourse don't agree with her but what the heck, she is still in her early 40's) Back to feeding my squirrels...

Well, since the Concorde has been decommissioned, I'd say the 747 doesn't meet the Concorde at all?

H.

since they meet nose nose, at a closing speed of 26,400 feet per second. concorde is closer to paris, and is closer for 0.00772 seconds until the 204 foot 8 inch concorde passes the nose of the 747,scary thing is that they cruise even faster
