All,

Looking for brake recommendations. I have a 19.5 bow rider on a single axle trailer. Pull both short and long distances (150 miles +.)

Titan makes a kit with disc brakes.

Any opinions.

Thanks,

John

Re: Brake Recommendation

Personally, I wouldn't use electric brakes on a trailer especially if it is used in salt water.

I would stay away from TieDown disk brakes especially their stainless non vented ones. I had a very bad experience with them.

Edit: I changed Titan to TieDown. No experience with Titan brakes.

Re: Brake Recommendation

I have electric on one and hydraulic surge on the other. They both work fine but I prefer the electric. If I was doing a NEW installation, and my tow vehicle was set up for it, I would use electric.

Re: Brake Recommendation

For Saltwater use --- I use Kodiak SCAD rotors and Stainless calipers --- five years, good experience, gone through several pads -- have towed thousands of miles and put into salt a hundred or more times. Tandem axle trailer with 24 foot boat.

bad experience with Tie-Down.

Re: Brake Recommendation

You might want to check out Gander mountain as they have a complete disc brake system for 6000lb capacity for only $399.00 That includes coupler with actator, brake lines, discs, calipers and mounting brakets. I think it is a very good price as I am looking at for my
24' Doral with a tandem trailer.

Re: Brake Recommendation

Thanks for all the responses. I did forget to mention that I only use the boat in fresh water.
