SO I am new here and needing some information..I have a 1998 Bayliner with a 3.0 Alpha stern drive and I am having a heck of a time trying to get the brass drain plug back in, not the blue plastic one but the brass one under the manifold. I have tried 2 new plugs no luck. I am assuming the threads are rusted and corroded. So what tap do I need to chase and clean the threads. from searching it looks like a 1/4 npt 18 is the remedy. but for the life of me it seems too large...cant even get it grab a little bit. SO thanks in advance I sure hope I can get this darned brass plug back in.

I'm thinking it's 1/8 NPT under the manifold.
What size plug were you trying?

Get a 1/8" npt pipe tap and chase the threads first. Must be corroded , gently work the tap back and forth to Ceuta the threads before putting another one in
