I’m in the process of my 1st carb rebuild and I got a brass float off mikescarb.com and it is smaller than the nitophyl float I am planning on replacing the brass float part number is FL43...does it not matter as long as I have the right float level and drop? Engine is 3.0 140 181 cid

I would think it would work if it fits and you can adjust it for the correct level. But I am not an authority by any stretch. However, I would use it myself.

I did the same when I rebuilt my Mercarb works just fine. If I recall the markings that you measure off of for the level are different on the brass one, so had to estimate where to measure on the new float but worked great

mikes has good videos and tech info on their website

Thanks y’all i appreciate the answers. First go around here so trying go slow and be careful. I wouldn’t have had a clue where to even start without the mikes carb YouTube video glad I asked here though because I almost went and got another nitrofyl float since they didn’t seem exactly the same and the original one is probably the only reason I needed to tear this one down in the first place
