bravo 1 outdrive question...

im looking at buying an outdrive on ebay and im wondering if there is a difference in the outdrive shafts between a 7.4L 454 and a 5.0/5.7L ?
i dont want to make the mistake of buying something off of ebay at around $2500+/- and not be able to get the shaft into the motor.

The shafts are the same (for the most part) unless it's a fairly new drive. Serial numbers are needed to verify what you are looking at though.

unfortunatly i dont have the serial numbers on hand, but i was told i had the old style bravo 1 on my boat. i just bought it and it has a bad propshaft. my mechanic is telling me its gonna cost around $1200, so i was thinking of just replacing the whole outdrive. are the drive shafts different from old style to the new style?

Outdrives have 3 shafts, input, vertical, and prop shaft. Which one are you asking about.

Except for some upgrades in case design, all bravo upper cases are the same. Why not just buy the bravo I lower. You have to match gearing but generally, the BI is 1.5:1

thanks guys for the help! i think i was referring to the input shaft as in if they are all the same spline count and diameter that goes into the motor.? i found a place near me that has an outdrive for cheap and will install it for me. i think i got a hell of a deal(1500) installed!
