2. Is it possible to swap out the Bravo One lower unit to a Bravo Three.
I more or less did the same thing with great results. (Although I swapped an OMG King Kobra with a similarly sized engine for a 7.4/Bravo III)
Let me also add that you do need to mind the ratios with a boat that big. I installed a 1.81:1 ratio in my 21ft approx 4000lb boat and got very good results.
If you're going to do it in a boat the size of yours, you'll probably need at least a 2.00:1 ratio and possibly a 2.20:1 ratio depending on your engine max rated RPM.
After noting your WOT RPM and speed with your current installation, (if your engine makes 4600RPM for example......probably MAX for your engine) you can probably get away with a 2.00:1 drive and 22p props.
A better choice might be a 2.20:1 ratio and 24p props, understanding you may need to go to 22p props.
Also, as Dodge indicated, if you choose to bolt a Bravo III lower onto your current "Upper", you will need to look up what your final ratio will be with your current "upper" gearset. (you may need to change the gearset or get a complete B3 drive)
With a boat your size and weight, you'll need to have a final ratio of no "higher" than 2.00:1 (I.E. Do not install a 1.81:1 drive or you may not find low enough pitch props to achieve 4600 RPM at WOT, trimmed etc)
All engine manufacturers recommend "propping" and engine to make MAX RPM at WOT when trimmed and (boat) loaded where you'll typically operate it.
