Just purchased a 1997 Bravo-2 outdrive on a bayliner 2452 5.7 Mercruiser. Are there u-joints in there that need to be greased? or are they sealed.

Thanks

Pull the drive and look. They may have been replaced before. Besides, you should be pulling the outdrive yearly for alignment checks, and checking for water in the bellows and other problems. It's a preventive maintenance job.

What Don says it true. Doing this anually, and without fail, will save you a lot of money when one of the parts does fail. By catching it early, less damage occures. This is preventitive maintainence 101.
Download your manual from the free links above. You will find that it is easy to do, and knowing what exactly is going on in there will give you a piece of mind that is invaluable.
Plus, knowing how to do your own annual service will cost you about 1/4 what it costs to pay to have it done.
