hey everyone, i am beating my head about this and wanted to through it out to the forum. i just did an engine job on a boat, 1994 5.7 carb with bravo3 drive and got it all ready, alignment was spon on, you could blow on the tool and it would spin in the coupler( LOL ) i installed the drive and when running it for the 1st time in the boat with the drive on, ( i built the engine on a trailer and ran it at length with a water hose going to the pump while i made all necessary adjustments) so, when i started it, the engine seems to idle fine, slight vibration, but then when i brought up the idle to around 1100, the engine was bucking , it was like it was possessed and wanted to break out of the mounts, lurching back and forward, not vilontly, but noticably. . at ist i thought it was a compression issue but on a hunch, i pulled the drive and the .vibration and lurching was gone. i checked th alignment and the tool went in nice, then i spun the engine and the tool would not go in. then easy, then hard, with each turn of the crank. . so, the coupler is not true. unfortunetly, i was not invoived with this boat prior to the engine getting pulled so i do not know how it ran beforehand. i
i am putting this out here looking for any input as to anything i should be looking at before i pull the engine again and replace the coupler or anyon who can tell me if this is something that heppens to these couplers
