Bravo II Drive

Anyone come up wiyh a home made hoist / tripod for installing and removing a Bravo II drive. If so care to share ?

could simply use a buddy. then hand him a beer when you are done

or a rented engine hoist would work.

O.K. I got hooked up with an engine hoist a friend will let me borrow.
Just getting too OLD to be lifting this drive.

Yea, one year the Admiral insisted that she help steady the outdrive as I installed it. It ended up being a case of 'too many cooks' . . . now I just wait until she is out shopping and remove (or install) the outdrives myself

they are heavy . . .

If you Google 'outdrive dolly' you will find some online.

Yep the Bravos are heavy. I could throw my Alpha around by myself no problem. Lately I have been waiting on a cheap deal on an engine hoist. I had a friend help me install the drive this year and don't want to go through that again.

Sterndrive dolly works great. Thats what we use at the shop.

Funny you ask that. i was going to make one tonight out of some 2X4 and some wheels from HF

Cost me about $50 took me about an hour and a half. Most expensiave part were the wheels at $7 each and the threaded rod at $9 each.

Mine that I welded up with my TIG welder. Had the metal already. Just needed the HF jack and some wheels. It's nice becuase you crank it up to the proper height. No lifting involved.

Thats pretty nice. I wish I had a welder or a shop big enough to use one in. With mine I will have to crank the boat jack up and down to get the drive back on but its better than trying to get it back on myself or worse with the wife trying to help.

If you can't weld and need something quick I got this from Stumpy's Fab works in the midwest, it works great with my Cobra which is not as heavy but not a lightweight either. I made a wood one with adjustable casters first but upgraded to this because of the jack....sorry about the beat lookin salt water outdrive, still shifts and runs like new though....
