Bravo one lower shift cable

How stiff should the lower cable be? I unhooked mine from the linkage and the drive is removed so there nothing hooked to the cable. I can push it in and out, but it is firm and feels as if it has a detent in it. Not like its completely stiff, just bump, bump, bump as you move it. Before I replace it, I just want to see if that is normal or not.

Ayuh,..... Pretty much Any cable should work smooth as silk, with nothin' on either end.....

I kinda figured, but thought I would double check. Guess I'm going to be ordering that along with trim sensors. Thanks

To do this job correctly, You'll want to get MerCruiser p/n 91-17262A1 shift cable adjustment tool. It is used to install the shift cable core wires on all Bravo drive units.
