Bravo raw water pump repair

Working on 1997 Mercruiser Bravo II OK147937 raw water pump ,the old one has about 1/4 inch of shaft exposed beyond the pulley and the new one has the pulley even with shaft. Do I install the new one as is or adjust to match the old pump before installing?

It will probably be fine either way, but use a straight edge from the crank pulley to the pump pulley.

Ayuh,...... The pulley has to align with the other pulleys, or the belt will shred or come off,.....

Test mount it, 'n check the alignment, then adjust accordingly,.....
