Bravo water hose size

I have a Bravo II sterndrive coupled to a Mercruiser 5.7. I just purchased the seal kit for the gimbal housing, and i am having a problem with the water hose that fits between the bellhousing and the Gimbal housing. Did Mercruiser change the size of this hose?
My old hose seems to be a 5/8 i.d. while the new hose is a 3/4. This translates to the outside hose diameter not fitting into the hole in the gimbal housing. The new hose has a measurement of 1.17" (3.14cm) vs the old of 1.13" (2.85cm). This is almost 3mm difference in the O.D.
If the hose was changed in size, I am guessing it was for improved cooling. Does this mean the holes in the bellhousing and gimbal housing should be enlarged, or is this fix a matter of getting a smaller hose?

Sounds like you may have received the wrong hose. The older R, MR, alpha one sterndrives used both sizes such as,
32-32461 HOSE, WATER - 5/8 Inch Inside Diameter
32-4172533 HOSE, WATER - 3/4 Inch Inside Diameter

The Bravo hose part number is 32-43437 --HOSE, item number 15 & 16

No, Merc did not change the size of the bravo hose over the years.

What was the part number of the seal kit you bought?

The transom seal kit p/n that I bought was marked as 18-8212. It stated it replaces Mercruiser 30-803100T1

Is that an OEM or Sierra kit? I'm betting the latter.

What is your engine or drive serial number? Although an aftermarket, it should be the correct hose unless the put the wrong hose in the kit.

My bellhousing has the number 4164601 on it. The Gimbal housing is C 823488. My engine number tag fell off in the hot wash when I was rebuilding it last year but it is a 1990 boat. I think the engine is a 1987 era as that is what the piston rings matched up too. There was a slight change in the rings during that time span.
