I am Breaking - in a rebuilt 2000 175 Johnson and have always used Double oil in the past breaking - in motors . I was reading in one of my Johnson repair book's , It stated that if you have oil injected ob just run normal for duration of break in period and not to exceed 3500 rpms . anyone ever hear of this ? Thanks JJB

Re: Break in oil ?

Break-in oiling is recommended for two reasons. One is to allow time for the new parts to seat in properly and the other is to insure that the automatic oiling feature is working before relying on it solely for lubrication.During this critical break-in period you need to make a line mark on the oil reservoir at the oil level line and expend enough run time to verify usage.Any time in the future that any component of the oiling system is serviced or replaced ,it is recommended to mix 50:1 in the fuel until oil usage from reservoir can be verified.
