Breathing Hole

On my Force 120 lower unit there is a small hole just above the oil fill. The engine has sat for about 9 months in the up tilt position. When I lowered the engine a small amount of oil began draining out of the hole, is that normal ? If oil comes out, water can go in ??

You need to determine what type of oil it is. If it's gear oil, then yes it may be a problem. Gear oil has a very distinctive odor. Smells kind of like sulfur or something similar. If it has little odor or smells like gas, then most likely it's just some unburnt fuel/oil residue. Nothing to worry about.
