I have purchased a 69' 4500 that has been sitting for 6 years, the motor has not run for 4.

The hoe was operating great when it was parked, they tried to use it and the clutch stuck, so they left it sit.

We can get it to turn over, but no spark. 12v is going to the coil, but no spark across points.

After we get it running, we will try to get the clutch functioning.

Knowing little about this unit, would it have a shuttle shift also?

Any help appreciated

Install a Pertronix ignitor like I just did on my old 1962 Hyster Forklift. You'll be off an running in no time!

A gas Ford 4500?. OK then. The thing I'd look at first is the low tension lead from the points/capacitor to the coil connection. It's not just a hunk of wire, it has specific resistance to keep the points from cooking.
A Petronix unit is a good fix for old wobbly shaft distributors like yours probably is, not a bad suggestion.

I could not tell if Pertronix has an application for a 3 cyl Ford engine. Looks interesting though.

Stupid question. If the ignition coil is dead, can it just be replaced with another coil that fits in the holder? I can"t seem to find a specific part number and availablity.

See if you can find any information stamped on the distributor then call Pertronix. They do make units for an awful lot of industrial applications. Some of the older or more obscure ones however, they only make it in the standard version so you have to be sure to not ever leave the key on when it is not running.

As for the coil, check with Napa.
