That's a neat trick . . . never heard a drive shaft actually breaking

. . . usually the splines or the u-joint yokes give it up first. When you say 'drive coupler' I assume you mean the coupler that is attached to the engine flywheel?
Anyway . . . I assume the remains of the drive shaft has really wedged itself in the spines of the coupler when the shaft broke. Not sure if you can do much about it . . . is there any part of the drive shaft exposed from the coupler, or did it break off clean?
The only thing I can think of is if there was enough of the driveshaft exposed so you could get a vice grip on it and try to turn it in the direction the engine turns.
