Rebuilt the carbs last night on my ?83 115 and when I went to bolt the last one (top) back on, I snapped one of the mounting ears off! Heartbreaking after all that work and Saturday is just a day away. I JB welded it back together and it has been sitting overnight. I do not like the idea of JB weld holding that carb on and am not too trusting of is so today I have been looking for a used one. I found a guy local that has one pretty cheap but my question is what is the difference between WMK-28, 32, 36, 40? They all show as parts for my serial motor. I am hesitant to get anything other than my exact one. I am guessing there are slight differences that may not matter too much.

The serial group of your motor should identify the exact carb you have. Sidebowl carb with Backjet?

You might verify the main jet is the exact same, or swap your main jet over. Since your motor is so old, you may not be able to get the exact replacement carb. Just get one that will fit and monitor its performance.

If there are no identification numbers on the broken carb, then you have to find one that looks like yours and swap the main jet and low speed jets over and happy boating. The jets should have their numbers stamped on them for reference. I can understand tightening a carb too tight can break the flange easily. Just take it really easy with the next one. The gasket is the seal, not the tightening... JMHO!

It is stamped on carb bowl and you don't want to mix and match. The reason there are different series is the cast in emulsion tubes not jst jets .That's why say a 115 use 3 different jet sizes with look a like carbs..
