broke wire and have no clue where it goes

when i pulled the motor out of my boat, a 96 mercruiser 2bbl, there was a very small 16 or 18 gauge wire on the stud on the back of the motor, and it was the only thing i missed before pulling, well it ripped when the motor came out, but now its back in but i cannot for the life of me find where it went. black wire, i know its a ground but i cant find for what. the boat is a proline 220 cuddy fish, dont know if that matters.

It is black and went to ground, put a new ring on it, re-attach it to ground and go fishing.

it is grounded i dont know what the ground went to

Most likely it was a bonding wire from the transom assembly to the block

Let`s put it this way,
Do you want your transom housing to corrode away from electrolsys?
