broken finn on lower unit

Hi,<br /><br />I wanted to know if anyone can help me with my skegg that broke because of ignornce. Its about 6 inchs long and about 1 inch wide. Its a suzuki dt 140 86 model.

I have bent and broken many skegs in my days. I always have had outboards. I take off the lower unit and send it out to a reputable propeller shop. I usually go to S&S in College Point in Queens NY. I also replace the water pump/impellor at the same time.

so, it can be repaired by welding that piece back to the lower unit?

No. SkegGard is stainless steel. It bolts on to the stump of the old one.<br /><br />Good luck.
