Broken Hose on Trim Cylinder

Just got back from a ride........Hit bottom going VERY slow. When I tried to raise the outdrive (pre-Alpha) I noticed an oil slick behind the boat. One of the hoses broke off at one of the trim cylinders. Had to get in the water and push off to deeper water. Ran it back to the dock and didn't notice any shaking so I don't think I damaged the outdrive. I was worried that water would get into the boat through the hose but a friend told me it wouldn't. I am going to pull the boat out of the water this w/e. How can I lift the outdrive and keep it up to get it on the trailer?

I carry a spare hose with me so I don't worry about it. You can probably take two people one to operate the trim and the other to lift on the out drive. Try trimming the outdrive as you lift on the foot. IT won't be easy but I beleive you can do it. It will be slow and you might need to add more fluid to your resevoire. Power steering fluid. Is ther eany way to try to splice another piece of tube around your break? IF you could stop the leak to a small leak it would help alot. It might actually lift for you then.

Tide catch you Sleeping Tony................. <br /><br />With a length of line,+ a Strong Back....<br />You Should be able to Heft it up,+ Lash it off to the Stern Cleats..............<br /><br />The Only place you're going to find Seawater is In the Hyd. System...........<br /><br />Good Luck.......

Man you want to really work! I tried to lift mine the other day and it wouldn't hardly budge. Maybe without any fluid in it it will work easier.

It appears to be the "Up" line that's broken............<br />It Should lift Reasonably Easy.........

aye since it wouldn't lift. Unless it was already out of fluid.

How much pressure is in these hoses? I think the threads may be crossed in the cylinder. Can I splice with a rubber hose and clamps?

i had to lift my 270 the other day and tie it to the cleat..had a prop problem..just try to lift and tie while it's still in the water...

7/16 wrench - detach both hoses at<br />trim pump.<br />2x4 1 foot long - lift outdrive<br />jam board between outdrive and<br />transom housing. Trailer home.
