Broken skag

A friend Hit something yesterday and broke almost 1/2 of the skag off ( the back half) must have hung the Log or big stick/ no prop damage. 75hp/merc/ about a 98yr md/ Now His boat will not plane off. Would the missing piece cause this? Prop still engages fine.( you can turn engine with it FOR/REV.

No. The missing piece should not prohibit planing off. You can replace (should replace) the missing piece of the skeg. The repair part can be found here http://www.iboats.com/Skeggard-Repa...97429681--**********.046415418--view_id.39561

He should have the prop checked for bent blades and balance

The broken skeg would not stop planning. probably spun the prop

I told him the PORP was spun to.( maybe) needed to be marked/ fouled on the trailer& ck'd but the marine'a he use's try'n to sell him a NEW L/U for $$$$. I try to help people for free...
