Broken skeg question (pic inside)

Hey guys. Broke the bottom piece off of my skeg today. Piece is about the size of a quarter. My main concern is how this is going to affect the handling of the boat. Will it make it pull to one side or the other? It looks like there is still enough skeg to protect the prop. What do you think?

By the way don't try to bend a skag bag into place with pliers. Doesn't work.

Photo did not show in my window. Small piece should not be a problem, but they can be repaired. Try a local welding shop, or call a local all marine repair shop, they can direct you to a repair guy.

I have 2 chunks carved out of my skeg on a Yammie 130 as a result of the anchor coming off the bow sprint whilst underway  Haven't noticed any difference in steering or performance :)

hello
yes they can be repaired. if its a small piece why bother. I have customers with the entire skeg missing with no problems. it is nice to keep the machine repaired though. any competent welding shop can repair it. no dont worry about the heat. they will be welding on a heat sink.
good luck keep posting and enjoy
