my tilt tube bushing broke when I was reassembling my TnT/stern brckets. I didn't notice it until I had remounted the motor (sealant cured etc). Basicaly the cylinder part broke away from the cap/washer part so the cylinder has slid down the tilt tube and is sitting under one of the rings on the swivel bracket. I have another bushing and will replace it when i have time for another repair project but I was wondering what ill effects it might have on the motor/TnT if I run it like this in the mean time. Thanks

Re: broken Tilt Tube bushing

i have seen many engines with the bushings long gone,,over a period of time, due to the loss of the bushing the hole may begin to oversize because of a "wallowing "effect by the tube, like putting a stick in the ground and spinning without it being perfectly strait will open the hole. you could also get a build up of alum.corrosion so try and keep it lubed and moved often. Is there any way to force it back in and maybe tighten a clamp or zip ty to stop it from working out. Just a tought
