Hello everyone,
I'm fixing a 1980 50 hp mercury outboard.
My problem is that the stator plate has a wire (brown) broken inside the stator right were the 6 other wires come out. The wire broke pretty deep in there.
Is there any tricks to repair this? The whole stator is covered with a thick ruberrish kind of plastic. If I were to dig in there is there anything I need to watch for? Or is the stator screwed up?
I'm checking part by part here and fixing what needs to. I know I need the serial number but I'm not sure where it is on that particular model. But I do have the stator number 3985454a21
Thanks for your time,
Don
