ok, don't laugh. i read an article about the kobe case today. it stated the hearings today were the first time the accuser had to see kobe in person since the alleged rape.

now, what would have happened if when she walked into the judge's office, looked at kobe, and said "that's not him." i know it sounds funny, but it could have happened. imagine the money spent thus far.

my question- i can accuse someone of a crime against me, just by naming them, and get this far in the court system? am i missing something?

Yes Matt you are missing something!!!
How could there be a mistake? they have his DNA.
This is a high profile case, being it is about an over paid super jock, held in high esteem by the male dominating world. This guy is not a "HERO" and never will be.
I doubt, that if it were you or I, that it would draw this much attention.
I hate to make this next statement but, she is a woman, still rated a 2nd class citizen in this country.
Why does this woman, have to go behind closed doors, in a state that it is illegal for her to do so, and tell her past sexuall experience???
Why is he, not behind closed doors, telling about his infidelity while being married.
And I would be willing to bet, that he has had more sexuall encounters then her.
And I believe that if a prostatute has sex with 99 men and you happen to be the 100th and she says "NO" then it becomes "RAPE"!!!

Re: bryant case

you guys missed my point completely. have a little imagination. the girl is raped. she thinks it was by kobe bryant, because she saw him a few times on t.v. she tells police, and he is arrested. now shouldn't the next step be for her to look at him in person and say, yes it was him? does anyone get my point???

"He said, she said", you need the evidence or it's just one person's word against the other. My imagination is shot. ;)

Mattttttttt25 – the article was a misprint. It was the first time she had seen him ‘face-to-face’ since making the allegation. I understand your point…it happened as you are implying a long time ago…in Salem, Mass. It happens now with cases involving abused children. The defendant is not permitted to face their accuser and is severely restricted in examination of that accuser. We are in a lot of trouble…mostly because we choose our satellite TV over direct involvement with securing our (and our children’s) own lives. Eventually, the NIMBY protocol will bite us in our @$$…it always does. :)

The courts are corrupt beyond belief.
