Buick 155hp good or bad

I have a chance to buy a 1968 Bellboy Boat.Great boat but it has a 155hp buick marine engine. I am not familier with that engine could anyone tell me the how they stand up in a marine application. Are they a strong motor or should I stay away.
This motor has been in fresh water and has been very well maintained thru out its life. thanks, camday

Instead of good or bad, you should be asking are if parts and service is available, to which the answer is NO.

OMC went out of business in 1998.

Welcome to Iboats!
That could have been a great engine back in the day, but what you really need to worry about is where you are going to find any parts it may need (now or in the future) that are marine specific.

A quick check on my part, and surprisingly Barr makes manifolds for it, but that's not the only parts to worry about.
Just take this into consideration before you pull the trigger.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... There are 3 motors, ya Don't want to buy in a boat, due to a lack of available parts,....

The 470 Mercruiser,....
The Buick with a OMC Stringer drive, yer lookin' at,....
'n the 2.3l Ford, Cobra, used by OMC....
Matter of fact,... Fords in general, are No longer used in boats...

thanks to everyone that responded to my question ( buick 155hp good or bad)I have decieded not to chance buying it on everyones same opinion that parts my not be available for it. we all know that motors all need parts every once in awhile.
