I just picked up a 1969 Johnson Seasport that looks to be all original. The boat itself is in great condition but hasn't been in the water for about 6 years. The boat has a Buick V-6 and I am curious where I might get parts for this year and model. Carb, Alt, Dist? Can anyone help me?

Thanks, that was a quick response! Nice detail on the picture of your engine Pappy! How fast does that take your boat?

I also have a boat (1969 Hydroswift, Buick V/6 225 C.I. 155HP) The boat sat a while after being rebuilt before I saw it and bought it. After changing the oil and gas I took it out and ran it,but it wouldn't start. Rebuilt the carb. (Rochester 2GC) and returned to the lake. Started right up and ran great. Haven't had any problems with it since save a fuel pump and a broken ign. wire. The only updated I've done to it besides an engine detail (see link), has been a Pertronix pointless ign.system which helped the starting and idle. I know that you can find most anything for your boat on the Net. like carbs and rebuild kits, outdrives and associated parts, alternators, ignition parts, impellers and about anything else. I don't have to deal with saltwater since I only boat and fish in freshwater which probably has saved me problems. I wish you luck with you boat and if I can be of any help let me know...Pappy

http://www.geocities.com/ratsult2/boatpic.html

Samish, sorry I didn't see your responce at the bottom of your original post. My boat is proped for cruising and it will about 30 mph at wot. I cruise at 24-25 mph for best gph. I boat above 6,000 feet, so I know that doesn't help top end. good luck with your boat...Pappy
