I can find a pressured fuel tank for my 1955 Johnson. and I was thinking to build me one. I have a 6 g regular metal fuel tank . Q: Can I made a plate like a pressured fuel tank has ? , and weld a metal tire valve and get one shot of aire with a bicycle pump to build pressure in tank to start the engine? I know that to buil to much pressred is really DANGER. Any help welcome.

Re: build my own pressure fuel tank

The purpose of the pressurized tank was to force fuel into an engine without a fuel pump. Later they (omc) found out how to add a fuel pump to a 2 cycle OB engine and ala, dispensed with the double hose and the pressurized tank.

But being a kid at the time, I thought that double fuel line was so cool......well so much for being a naive kid.

If you're not into restoration original...convert to a single line with a fuel pump!
