I'm sorry for asking so many questions, you guys really help me and other boaters out alot. There's many years of experience floating around these forums.

My new question, is has anyone ever built or considered building a lean post for their center console boat?

My 17x60 aluminum center console boat has one seat mounted right behind the console but just before the back bench seat. It's a pretty crummy seat that I'm planning on replacing, but I thought a lean post would be pretty sweet to have there so the other people in the boat don't have to stand the whole time while the boat is moving. The bench behind the console is really just for storage and is too low to sit on, especially while moving.

I have a decent idea of how to make a simple frame using square tubing, but I'm not sure where to get a good seat or anything like that.

All the lean posts that you can buy in stores or on the web are a ton of money, and they are all white or something which I don't really want for my flat boat (Max-4 camo would be great! :) )

any ideas or previous experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jordan

Additional note, I've seen pictures of the perfect lean post on gator trax boats website, but they have no option of buying one separate...

I get the feeling you would rather buy one than make it from reading your post. Either way, look at the iboats Marine Store. Under Seating there is a section called Off Shore Seating. Lots of different types of leaning post seating there. A good place to get ideas, or just pick out one to buy as a christmas present.

They even have a single seat leaning post:
