I have a Yamaha 9.9 High Truster 1994 modèle : T9.9 EXHS, # série : 6G8-UL-786798
Motor was running fine until last sunday on a fishing trip on Lake Ontario. The motor is use as a kicker for trolling. I was there for a 4 days fishing trip and the previous days it was running 100% but on the last day it start to suddently stop and I realize the primer bulb was going totally collapse and I have to manually pump it and re-start and every 15 minutes I was going in the back and gave a few pump just to be sure he would not stop. The primer bulb has been change in June and it's a Yamaha. Tgas is feed from my main tank through my water separator.
What should I look for steps by step.
Thank you

Re: Bulb collapse

Any time the bulb collapses it is a sign of a restriction between the bulb and the pickup in the tank. It obviously starves the engine of fuel. If you have a plastic tank, drain it and check the bottom for plastic debris left over from the drilling operations. I've seen many of these and I can't help myself when I see a display of new tanks. There is generally some debris in all of them. Had it happen to one of my tanks as well.

Re: Bulb collapse

My main engine is connect on the same gas tank and water separator.
The tank is aluminium.
Main engine works perfectly.

Re: Bulb collapse

It takes suction to flatten a primer bulb. The only way that happens is with a restriction on the inlet side of the bulb or in the fuel supply prior to the bulb. It appears the pickup in the tank is not the problem so look between the bulb and the point where the fuel supply separates.

Re: Bulb collapse

Thank you.
I'm going tomorrow for a fishing trip and I will take the opportunity to have a good look on all the connections.
