Bunk Height Replacement - bracket slope question

I have a 2001 19 Cape Horn C/C. I am 99% sure this is the factory trailer and "almost" sure its original bunks/brackets (Performance Trailer).

Brackets and hardware are shot (corrosion) and bunks old with age, so I plan to replace the setup.

My question... I just now noticed the brackets are different heights, 10 inch (front) and 8 inch (back). I assume it was for easier load/unload? Is this normal to do?

I have always been cautious of the hull only 2 inches from the fenders and 2 inch from the transom trailer cross bar... BUT... I have never had a problem loading/unloading the boat.

Should I fix this height difference now? Or stick with a replacement as it sits? I can take pics if needed.

If it works now, I wouldn't change a thing. When you start making changes, like raising the rear of the bunks, handling of the trailer can also change due to the raised weight. Like I said, just replace the brackets and bunks like the current set-up.

Front bracket are higher then the rears because of where the bunks land against the hull.

Some trailer/boat combos need bunk height so the keel will clear cross members or the junction of the tongue w the side rails of the trailer when you load/unload.

If it loads, unloads and tows good now, I wouldnt change the heights.

Thanks guys... I had planned on using the exact same setup, with the same logic in mind... if it works, dont change it.

Figured I would get some feedback on why it was different in the first place, as it wasnt something I noticed on my trailer... or other trailers at the launch. Its a few mins walk at the marina I launch... Im always checking out other trailers and never noticed a slope... ofcourse, I bet I'll see a ton of them now that am looking for it.

Thanks again...

Mine is the same way. The hull tapers a little going toward the bow and the rear-dropped bunks let her sit level on the trailer. Only about an inch drop in my case.

Also keep in mind that if you raise the stern of the boat any water inside will be less likely to drain well...

Another vote for don't fix a problem you don't have.
