so the boat i purchased last fall was a 22 ft sea ray. pachanga wt. empty around 3000 lbs. it has a bunker trailer, i have to redo the carpeting on it, was thinking about adding delron guides ontop of the carpeting. when i back my boat into the water i always have the safety hook disconnected and my wife holding the mooring lines, will my boat come shooting off the trailer before the stern hits the water, and are the delron guides safe???

Re: bunker trailer

The guides are very safe. The reason we like them is because it makes launching easier. If you want even better launching, throw away the bunks and replace them with full roller bunks.

If you read the Trailer Boatman's Trailer Launching and Retreiving Guidebook you'll see that your method is dangerous and not recommended. The winch and safety chain are NEVER released until you are ready to have the boat move off the trailer.

So, go ahead and put the slicks on, you'll love them. When the trailer is backed over water, get out of the car and unhook, then back up the last 3 feet.

Re: bunker trailer

There are various devices available to remotely hook and unhook boats from the trailer but they ar pricey

Also FWIW... there is no such thing as a "bunker" boat trailer... the boards you have are bunks ... bunkers are generally under ground ;)
