Bunkers on trailer

If I have bunkers on my trailer do I need to keep the keel rollers on there?? Out of six of them only the one by the transom actually touches. The rollers are cracking from weathering and I hate to spend the money on them if they are not even needed.

If the keel doesn't touch at typical trailer to water levels then they aren't doing anything anyway.

just make sure the bow part of the keel doesn't drop lower than the bunks as the boat slides on or off, that would be the only reason to keep them, on my little boat it also only hits the roller on the back

Next time you launch your boat make a mark on the top of each roller. When you put the boat back on the trailer see if the mark has moved. This will tell you if your boat is using that roller or not during launch and retrieval. Most boats don't sit on the rollers while on there trailer.

I've had too many cups of coffee this morning so the term "bunkers" is bugging me. These are called "bunks". Bunkers are places you hide in during a bomb attack.

I always thought if the bunks were setup correctly the boat would just touch the rollers with most of the weight on the bunks.That way it helps to center the boat when loading.??
