I bought an engine that overheated and needs some things repaired. I think I've fixed everything exept this one burned wire that I don't know what it is. I'm attaching a picture. Anyone know?

For $175 bucks on a 3 cylinder....naaaa. Looks like yo got a temp gauge anyway. You be better off with a water pressure in my opinion as I dont like temp gauges.

That temp sensor is one of the things I just fixed. My boat actually doesn't have that guage either. And that leads me to another question because I was going to install one. Is that sensor for a cylinder head temp gauge or a water temp gauge?

Re: burned wire

Water temp... If you got to purchase a gauge buy the water pressure (0-15psi) as it will show you instantly if water pressure is lost, you can monitor wear of impeller as pressure will drop over time and it reacts faster than the temp gauge. Either way if you don't watch temp or pressure gauges while under way neither will do you no good if impeller fails....

Yep.. remove that temp sender and install compression fitting in its place (usually in kit),route tubing to dash and attach to guage.
