check out the screamandfly.com bulletin board - there are several posts on the force motor - apparently, the late 90s engine are only worth 300 - 900 bucks if you are lucky - they are based on old chrysler technology - they seem to like to break piston rings - most used motors Ive seen were for sale due to busted piston rings wiping out the cylinders. The best Force motors were 1997 & later, after Mercury bought the company to acquire the low costBayliner business. Mercury fixed all the historic "Force" problems - then shut down production. A nice 125 1997 FOrce motor just went for $1,200. on ebay ! My 1999 Force was just stolen - Im updating to a Johnson to increase the value of my Bayliner. I would factor the low dealer retail value of the motor into the deal & beat this boat out of this guy if you really like the boat..Also check
