Buying a boat with no motor

Well, assuming I iron out my current crop of problems, I'll have a decent, running, 115hp Johnson motor, attached to a boat that will need at the very least, new carpet, and maybe seats and all other interior parts as well. It's just a tired old (1970) Glastron V166.

Is there deals to be had on decent boats that I could attach my motor to? How much? Or am I better off just fixing my current boat and sticking it out? Or biting the bullet and buy a whole rig, older boat and motor. I'm not what you'd call an "avid" boater, so I hate to spend a bunch of money on this.

You may find a deal, or you may buy a can of worms.

If your current boat suits the purpose, has a solid hull, and is functional, why not keep her. Fix it up a little and save your $ for repairs or a vacation. You can do a total rehab, or just what needs to be done.

Someday you may have the desire to buy newer/bigger/faster/smaller/, but for now it sounds like you are ok with what you have.

Happy boating.

nitsuj
Ditto's on what roscoe just said. Since your not a avid boater mabe just sprucing up what you have would be the way to go. Just make sure you buy marine carpeting and seats etc... this is just one of many places to look at but it will give ya a idea of the costs.. shouldn't cost much more than about 600 bucks.. that assuming all new carpet and brand new lounge seats.. etc..
http://www.boatersworld.com/webapp/...t=10002&tmlpse=true&langId=-1&catalogId=10051

Hope that helps
Make another post as to what you do
Link
