Hello, I have a question for all you new pontoon owners, I never bought a new pontoon before, I had older used. but plan on buying one this season. My question is, when buying new is it the same as buying a car, such as the sticker price, is there room to haggle on the sticker price, or is the sticker price firm. Thank you

There are discounts on all manufacturers. I would try a minimum of 20% and more depending on what time of the year you buy and the price point you are looking at. I purchased a Bennington in the fall of 2012 - ordered a 2013 model and got a 26% discount on a pontoon in the $70,000 list price range.

I plan on buying a bennington 20' sf model set up for fishing, I think the price range is in the low 20s for a base model

I think it a pretty safe bet that if you price the exact same boat, engine, options combo at 3 different dealers, you're going to get 3 different prices. That should answer your pricing question right there.

Given a choice, the timing of your purchase can save you some money as well. Avoid shows, and avoid pre-Memorial Day, or even 4th of July, purchases.

If you can find a boat that will suit you that's 2-3 years old, often you can save a TON of money!

Except, I would NOT avoid shows. From experience on the selling end of things. I know that some of the best "deals" we ever offered were at shows. For one thing if its the boat at the show you want we don't want to bring them home and the product was already delivery prepped. For another we were looking to move lots of product and the profit expected was much less per individual toon or boat than we wanted when at the dealership. We also had generic show discounts even on ordered and not stocked items after you made your best deal. Simply put we were more motivated to move product at the show. JMHO

FWIW, We got our 2013 Bennington 20SL with a trailer, 50 Yamaha 4s and a few upgrades(depthfinder/fishfinder, 12'top, Sony Xplode stereo etc) for under $22k out the door. Ours is obviously set up for cruising but the fishing version will be similar. This could at least give you a starting point. Good luck.

I went a dug out my buyers order for ours. I did better than I remembered.
Ours was $17500 for the boat
$1500 for the trailer (Hustler single axle with led lights)
Tax $1200
Misc $300

Our OTD price was exactly $20500.

Great price! My neighbor just bought the same boat, same engine without trailer for about $25k out the door. He did however get a 7 year "bumper to bumper" warranty....which I've never heard of before.

I think all Benningtons come with a 7 year warranty. Ours did. Other brands are just as good, I'm not a kool aid drinker. We liked the dealer, they were close(big points here for proximity) and had a competitive price.
