Ok this may sound strange but I am looking for a new boat. Along the lines of a Mirrocraft or Starcraft. Anyways the question is. Do I negotiate the price of the boat or is the price final? I know it might depend on the dealer also but input would be great help.

Re: Buying new

Boats are negotiable just like cars. Particularly when the market is down like it is now. Look around to see what you like, get prices and then start negotiating on the one you want. When you get to the point where the dealer won't go any lower, sometimes they'll throw in extra equipment to close the deal. Look at enough boats to be sure you're buying the one you want. Spend a few bucks more if it's worth it and you'll be happier with it in the long run.

also go with the larger engine, they're not just trying to get more money from you (well maybe). you'll be happier with the performance, it should last longer (less time at higher rpms to maintain same speed), and will handle your boat as it grows in weight (more accessories added over time). good luck-
